{Those Magical Moments} part 2

This book is so detailed. It's got the cutest pictures and funniest little tid-bits.

It shares little stories about pixie dust, and all the different talents fairies have.

Here's my favorite talent

After getting all the autographs from all the fairies, and seeing that they all have cute little symbols that represent their talent, I was inspired to design my own signature!  I know, I know, corny Disney fanatic.  On the bus ride home I designed it in my head, and sketched it out once I got my hands on paper and pens.

And now!  I am proud to present..... My autograph!

I love it so!

{Those Magical Moments}

As a Disney Cast Member, the word magical is a part of our everyday language.  Pair magical, with moment, and you get a unique experience. Maybe it's a special meet and greet, or a Cast Member providing excellent service to a guest.

My favorite Magical Moments are when Cast Members provide amazing service to fellow Cast Members.

Now, here's my story.

For as long as I can remember, I've loved Tinker Bell.  Loved her.  My massive Tink pin collection proves my point. Along with my Tink stationary, lamp and statues. I've had my eye on this stunning book all about the Never Fairies since I got here, and was thrilled to find it at the Cast Member discount store last week.

The cover was a little worse for wear,

but the book itself was absolutely perfect!
It's SUCH A CUTE BOOK!!!!  The artwork is beautiful and just makes my Pixie loving heart flutter.

The book also has little bio's about some of the Never Fairies. I was a little bummed to see that they didn't do bio's on most of the fairies in the movies. There were bio's for fairies I'd never heard of before, and they left out Iridessa, Rosetta, Fawn and Silvermist. Lame.

I brought my book to work today, and got Tink, Terence and Vidia to sign their bio's.

This is when the magic moment comes in to play.  The character attendant captain noticed me and my book, and offered to take it up to Rosetta, who was on break.  I readily agreed to this, and waited for quite a while for her to come back.

When she did, she informed me that Iridessa, Fawn and Silvermist all signed the book too!

MAGIC MOMENT!!!!

Stay tuned for part two of my Never Fairies adventure!

Animal Kingdom

Look! It's TERK!
And Timon!
And my always favorite, Tigger
Dug and Russel are back at Animal Kingdom too!

I'm so glad that my roommate, Chelsea, is just as character happy as I am.  She's willing to wait in lines to meet them, just like me.

Nothing special has happened at work recently. So that's why I haven't posted much lately.

Have a Magical Day!

Super Greet

Being a character means my name tag, and my face, never see the light of day while at work.

Because of that, I made the goal to get both my face and name tag seen before going home.  I had plans to pick up an extra shift at some eating establishment, but I was worried about getting lost in the tunnels, and not doing well at the assignment I would be given.

Today, I got to show my face and name tag in a comfortable setting that allowed for a lot of guest interactions.
Today, I super greeted.  Here's me in my shiny attendant uniform.
The pants didn't fit me well at all. I tried to grab them as fast as possible, so they were way too long on the leg and hit me well above my belly button.

Anyway, back to my story.  Rapunzel moved meet and greet locations last night, so I stood out in front of her old location, and directed guests to her new area.  It was so fun actually talking to people, wishing them happy birthday, and having my face seen.  I loved that cute guys checked me out, and polite guests thanked me by name.

It was such a fun shift!

Look how purdy my name tag looks on that blue shirt!

Special thanks to cosmetology who provided me with make up, and even went as far as to mix some foundation for me to match my ivory skin color!

Traditions Mickey

On my first official day as a Disney Cast Member, we spent many, many hours in a wonderful hooplah of boredom called Traditions. There were a few great moments, like when I took my first steps onto Magic Kingdom ground, received my name tag, and when Mickey Mouse himself walked into our classroom and spent a few minutes with us.

Today, I was that Mickey.

I had such a blast handing out little figurines to new cast members, gave a few hugs, a lot of high fives, and made about 50 middle age men and women smile, cry and laugh.  But mostly smile. I did one ten minute set and then went and sat in the break room for the rest of my spare shift.

Getting paid to do nothing is also a nice perk of this job.

On my way home, I realized that while I spent my day welcoming people to their new job, my bestest friend, Leslie, was on a plane home to Utah.

Leslie, you've been gone for only a few hours, and I already miss you. I'll see you in June

{Easter Sunday}

Hindsight is an awe inspiring thing, isn't it?

Jeffrey R. Holland (a member of the quorum of the twelve apostles, a part of my religion, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) gave this quote in the Sunday afternoon session of conference exactly one week ago.

I was sitting on Leslie Loo's couch, trying desperately to focus on his talk. None of us watching were paying a lot of attention, we all seemed so fidgety. But then, this quote came ringing out of his mouth, and I couldn't tear my mind away from it.

Sunday night, after saying goodbye to Leslie and her roommates, I walked home with his quote reverberating through my skull. I walked in to a sleeping apartment and knelt down in the living room and prayed my heart out.  I told Heavenly Father that I believed I would be an amazing nurse, that I believed in myself, but most importantly, that I believed in Him to direct my life.

He heard my prayer.  I'm going to nursing school.

So on this Easter Sunday, a plastic egg, chocolate bunny, neon basket-less day, I am so grateful for my Heavenly Father and for my Savior.  I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm grateful for my upbringing in the church and the values it has giving me.

I'm grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, who took upon himself all my sins, and felt every pain I will ever feel. He died on the cross, and rose again on the third day. He gave me Eternal life.

Happy Easter, Ya'll.

The Day My Life Changed

Yes, that's right, my life changed on April 4, 2012.

For my sake, I'm just going to put the entire story here, so I can read this again and again for the rest of my life.

Wednesday afternoon I was working Minnie Mouse at Magic Kingdom, when I got a text from my mom.  She asked me what my work schedule was for the day, and that I should call her once I was home, no matter how late that was.  That last bit is what tipped me off to the possibility that she had just pulled another nursing letter from the mailbox.

I called her and asked her to just open up the dang letter so I could stop dwelling on it during work. She refused, so I had to finish up the last 6 hours of work before I would find out what the letter said.

By the time I got home, I had convinced myself it was another rejectance (DATC said no 2 weeks earlier, and USU had said no even earlier than that). I spent the entire bus ride home praying to Heavenly Father saying "I know no amount of prayer can change the ink on that letter, so please, if it's a no, show me what you want me to do with my life."  I came home to an almost empty apartment and called my mom. She had decided during the day to Skype opening the letter, and I told her I really didn't want to cry in front of her, I was that convinced that it was a no.

So she won the argument and in a few minutes, I had my laptop on and my webcam plugged in.  We had some issues getting the cameras up and running, but before I knew it, she was opening the envelope from CEU.

Here's how the conversation went:

Mom: "Dear Courtney, we are thrilled"
Me:  starts hysterically crying
Mom: "to inform you of your acceptance to Utah State University; College of Eastern Utah's nursing program.
Me: throw my hands in front of my face and loose my marbles.

mom finished reading the letter, but I was too consumed with happy hysterics to even pay attention.  I posted my acceptance on Facebook, and the congrats started flowing in.  Three of my wonderful roommates came in to congratulate me personally, and I got a bunch of texts from friends and family at home.  My mom and I three way called my dad, sister and brother who were down in St. George for Spring break, so I could tell them the news.

The next day, my roommate Briana surprised me with this congrats cake

So now I'm looking for housing in Price, and I am soooooooooo ready for this next chapter of my life to begin!

The scriptures say that you have to taste the bitter to enjoy the sweet, and boy, have I tasted the bitter, and I'm so enjoying the sweet!

After 2.5 years of school, and 4 rejectance letters, this yes means the world to me.

Catch Up!

It's been a while since my last post!

Work has been good, but nothing special, which is probably why I haven't hopped on here to share any stories. I've been having spare shifts, which means I go to work without an assignment, and step in when a scheduled performer can't make it to their shift.  I've been doing character dining almost every morning at 6 am. So that means I'm going to bed early, so I can wake up at 4:15 am to get on a bus at 4:59. Early mornings for sure.

I got my second rejection from a nursing school. DATC said no on Saturday last.

So now I wait for CEU and Snow's decisions.

It sucks.
