Aaaaaaat Laaaast

my looove has come along!

Hahaha, sorry, couldn't resist the musical moment.

So in October of last year, I got in a scary car accident, here, and insurance totaled my car.
I went 'car-less' through:
          November
          December
          January
          February
          March
          April
          May
          June
          and 28 days of July.
(though, in my defense, January- May was spent in Florida, and I rode buses every day)

You've probably figured out the basis for this post.
Ladies and Gentlemen, meet my NEW CAR!

Tink Honda Civic
born: 2007
adopted: July 28, 2012

I love her so! Yes, yes, you may be shaking your head saying "you named your car Tink?"
My response: Have You Met Me????

I'm very happy to be done with the car search. Now I can fill 'er up with my car goodies, hang my decorations, and stick my Disney stuff in the windows!

Yay!

Tink Gets Some Much Needed Love

I went to Walmart today to get some distilled water and Command Hooks. I walked out with a craft project.(and distilled water and Command Hooks too).

So I walked out with:
     a bajillion paint strips
     3 large paint chips
     2 8 X10 canvases
     yellow paint
     3 sponge brushes

I have a good sized collection of TinkerBell pins from over the years and past boyfriends. I realized when I was unpacking my stuff that I would really love to make them into some sort of art display. I didn't know how, but I knew I did NOT want to pull the posts off the back of my pins.

I thought maybe I could stick a block of foam in a shadow box, but canvas hadn't occurred to me until I was in Walmart browsing around. So I went for it. And I snatched a pretty yellow color to paint the canvas as well.

So I ran home and got to work.

first off, I laid out my pins, then stuck them into a sheet of paper for a template.

I painted my canvas and let it dry for 2 hours

Then I flipped over my template, pulled the backs off my pins and marked which holes NOT to use with an x

Then I trimmed my template to fit in the wood frame of the canvas and used a metallic blue pen to show me where to poke.

I took a safety pin and poked away, and then put in my Tink pins, and secured the cute little Mickey backs.

And the finished product...

I left space for future pins that will inevitably join my collection. I wish the lighting would be better, but hey, I  live in an apartment that mostly relies off of natural light. So now I've got my pins to display, and if I wake up tomorrow and hate it, I can pull the pins off, put them back in a box, and do something else with the canvas.

[test numero uno]

USU Eastern has a testing center, so our instructor tells us what days the test is available and we go take it whenever we want. This is very different from what I'm used to, and I decided to treat it like I have in the past. I decided to go to class, and take the test immediately afterwards.

So, you know what? I did.

I kinda assumed everyone else would do the same, considering this test seemed to be a cake walk. To my surprise, I was the only one asking to take the test right away. Two girls in my class were studying in the hallway, said they wanted to keep studying, so I went ahead and took it all alone. (fine by me, love silence while testing)

So how did my first ever nursing school test go? Awesome.

I credit my success to the fact that I have all my prerequisites done, and worked for a year in a family practice office.  The questions were worded to make you think about your options, and used a lot of medical conditions that I was familiar with.

I won't get a grade until Thursday, but for now, I'm feeling oh-so-confident. Go me!

What a Mess

Ready for some crazy messy pictures of my apartment?  Great!  Let's get started!

The view from right inside the room.

The bookcase I already love. Needs some arranging.

The 'prep area'. Needs some work.

Ducks have taken over the tub!  Nice & clean after mopping twice.

The wide open living room full of a mishmash of things.

I'm trying to figure out where to put these bins. So many options...

The sad empty kitchen. Can't wait for Stephanie's dining table!

So organizing stuff is coming along, i'm sure it would be done by now if I didn't have to do tons of other things too. Like forking over 200 bucks for utilities, and doing nursing homework, and going to class, and taking Words Per Minute tests for my upcoming interview in TWO days!

Today I broke out my shiny new pan and made an all time favorite of Mac n Chee (minus the ketchup, haven't been to WalMart yet)

Cooking with my Mickey measuring cups!
You can take the girl out of Disney, but you can't take Disney out of the girl.

The finished product! Voila!
Is this what my life has come to? Posting about dinner?  I need friends.

Anyway, Life is good so far, a little lonesome. My roommate will be moving in soon, and I'll probably miss being able to walk about the apartment singing along with my Glee peeps.

Hope you are doing well! Maybe you should go enjoy some Mac n Chee, it sure was delicious.

The Superhero

I am now officially a resident of Price, UT.  Stay tuned for a post about it coming soon!

Anyway, this post isn't about me... It's about my mom.

When we opened the door to my apartment at about 1 pm on Saturday, my mom immediately noticed the dirt.  I was obvious because I was so excited to start filling it with my stuff, but my observant mom knew better.  She ran to the store and bought me 60 bucks worth of cleaning stuff and went to work. Dad helped out for a few hours, but eventually he and Nate headed home.
Mom kept cleaning. And cleaning. And cleaning. I am so grateful that she did.  Take the kitchen floor for example, she moped it, and 10 squeezes later the mop was still leaking brown water. That's DISGUSTING. The kitchen was covered in grease, everywhere we cleaned. The previous tennant must have deep-fried all his food. Yuck.

Mom slept over and continued to clean the apartment on Sunday while I went to singles ward for my first time. She stayed ALL DAY.  In fact she had to rush out the door at 8:35 ish so she could make a return to Kmart in time.

My apartment looks so much better with (almost) everything clean.  Now I've had time to start putting my stuff around the place, and I am loving it.

Thanks mom!  You are awesome!

My Thoughts on Week One

Tomorrow will be my second week of nursing school.

It feels like it's been a month.

It's because I've been so busy, not because I hate it.

I've been riding down with a fellow student, so that comes to 4 hours round trip in drive time, and she works afterwards, so I have to sit around and read my textbooks for 5 or more hours each time. That right there is tiring enough.

Class is filled with Intro to College fluff work. I am sure the program means well in giving us a basic foundation to build on, but I've been in school for a while now. I really don't need to take test taking skills tests and watch lectures on time management.

I honestly can't wait for the real work to begin.
